I received praise for the song I wrote for TJ and Leah last spring, "Marriage". I listened with delight to Joe Jencks, Pat Wictor, Greg Greenway and other singer-songwriters at SUUSI. I have conceived an ambition to write a song cycle about great life moments. I have the beginnings of a songs called "Commencement", "Depression" and "On the Wagon." Don't know if I can spin giving up drinking as a formal life milestone, but it's what I'm going through now and it's worth a song. Now, whenever I hear a song, I'm analyzing the songwriting, trying to pick up what makes it effective and what makes it fall short. I would like to complete the song cycle before next SUUSI.
